Baltimore City MVA at Mondawmin to Relocate into New Hilltop Shopping Center Location

GLEN BURNIE, MD (May 18, 2011) -- The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) is relocating its Baltimore City branch office, with its full services, to the Hilltop Shopping Center, 5424 Reisterstown Road.  The Mondawmin Mall MVA is officially closing its doors for the last time on May 20, 2011, which will be its last day for business and the new Baltimore City MVA branch office will open for business on May 23, 2011 in the Hilltop Shopping Center.

The Baltimore City MVA serves an average of 26,000 citizens each month.  Customers can apply for or renew their driver's licenses, obtain identification cards, return license plates, and receive driving records at the Baltimore City Hilltop Center location. 

Vehicle registration renewals will also be offered at the first of the MVA’s new generation of 24 hour kiosks.  Available anytime, day or night to customers who come to the new Baltimore City MVA, the kiosk will take check or credit card and produce renewal stickers for the license plate. 

The move to the Hilltop Shopping Center at the corner of Reisterstown Road and Rogers Avenue is 3 miles northwest of the Mondawmin Mall.  It is accessible by MTA Bus Route 53, which operates on Reisterstown Road, and the MTA’s Rogers Metro Station stop is a short walk to the new MVA location.  The move is part of the revitalization of the Park Heights Community, and will allow the MVA to continue to serve the citizens of Baltimore City.

A ribbon cutting ceremony to official dedicate the new Baltimore City MVA in the Hilltop Shopping Center is scheduled for early June.

The Baltimore City MVA branch first opened its doors in the city on May 13, 1971. In 1974, the branch was relocated inside the Mondawmin Mall where it remained for 10 years.  In January of 1984, it was once again relocated to a location adjacent to the Mondawmin Mall.
