Bookmark and Share
  • Take time to prepare by knowing your route and using familiar roads.

  • Give yourself space and time to react by allowing space for emergency braking or for avoiding a crash.

  • Use proper signaling and make your lane changes gradually.

  • Avoid driving at dusk or dawn, when visibility is most difficult and during inclement weather.

  • Plan your activities and appointments to avoid driving during rush hour traffic efrom 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.

  • If you are taking medication, be sure to consult with your doctor or pharmacist about how it could affect your driving because some medications can limit or impair your ability to drive.

  • Take a driver's safety course to learn techniques that will help you handle new challenges safely.

  • Begin planning and using alternative ways of getting around.

  • Always remember to buckle up.
