Save Time With MVA’s New Traffic Citation Kiosk
One Stop Allows You to Pay Citation Fines and Renew Driver’s License
(Glen Burnie, MD) August 21, 2015 – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) is enhancing customer service by making it easier for customers to pay Maryland District Court traffic citation fines. Unpaid fines can prevent customers from being able to renew driver’s licenses.
With the launch of the Maryland Uniform Traffic Citation Payment Kiosk, MVA customers can now make payments for traffic citations to Maryland District Court while at the MVA. The kiosks are available at the following MVA locations: Annapolis, Baltimore City, Beltsville, Glen Burnie, and Largo.
The kiosks offer a quick, easy and secure method to pay District Court citations. Customers can pay citations using a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express credit card. A convenience fee is assessed by the vendor for each kiosk transaction.
Once the citation is paid at the kiosk, the MVA instantly receives a receipt verifying payment and the customer is then able to renew his driver’s license. What once may have required two or more visits to the MVA and District Court can now be accomplished in one visit
“We are using the best technology available to make your trip to the MVA more convenient,” said Transportation Secretary Pete K. Rahn.
“By working together, the District Court of Maryland and the MVA are helping people save time and money,” said District Court of Maryland Chief Judge John P. Morrissey. “These kiosks provide greater access to court services and more convenience for the public. The installation of these kiosks is just one of the many steps the Maryland Judiciary is taking to modernize operations and improve customer service.”
Use the kiosk to pay the following District Court traffic citations:
- Speeding tickets,
- Seat belt violations,
- Failure to display license on demand,
- Driving without current tags,
- Failure to stop at stop sign, and
- Unsafe lane changing.
District Court citations that cannot be paid using the kiosks include: driving on a suspended license, driving under the influence, and driving an uninsured vehicle. The kiosks cannot be used if the citation indicates “Must Appear” in court.
“We are happy to offer this new service to our customers,” said MVA Administrator Milton Chaffee. “Using the kiosks is easy, immediate, and will save our customers valuable time.”
The Maryland Uniform Traffic Citation Payment Kiosk is owned and maintained by LexisNexis payment solutions. LexisNexis is the official card payment processor for the Maryland District Court. Problems with use of the kiosks should be reported to LexisNexis customer support at 1-800-669-8312, Option #3.
