**Media Advisory**Become Real ID Ready: MDOT MVA and MDOT MAA to Provide Updates on Real ID Implementation in Maryland
During this busy holiday travel season, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) and Maryland Aviation Administration (MDOT MAA) will share updates on the federal Real ID Act implementation. Passed by Congress in 2005, the Real ID Act sets security standards for newly-issued State driver’s licenses and identification cards. Starting in late 2020, the new cards will be required to access federal facilities and board commercial aircrafts.
