Important new service delivery methods are in place that will help reduce customer wait times and improve convenience for all MVA customers. It is important to note that all products issued through the online services, MVA Self-Serve Kiosk, or mail will be mailed to the address of record.
Driver’s License Renewals
Maryland drivers, under 40 years of age, who are eligible, must renew their driver’s license online at the MVA’s E-Store, or by mail or MVA Self-Serve Kiosk located at all MVA branch offices. Renewals will no longer be completed at an MVA branch office counter for these customers. The driver’s license will be mailed to the address on record.
Online Appointments for New Applicants
New, first-time, applicants for a Maryland driver’s license or identification card must visit an MVA branch office to complete their transactions. Click on the MVA’s document guide to get you started and make an appointment to reduce your wait at the MVA.
Duplicate Licenses and Identification Cards
All duplicate driver’s license and identification card requests must be completed online or by MVA Self-Serve Kiosk. We encourage customers to use the new online renewal option here. The duplicate driver’s license or ID card will be mailed to the address on record.
ID Card Renewals
All eligible identification card renewals must be completed online, here or by MVA Self-Serve Kiosk. The ID card will be mailed to the address on record.
Change of Address or Corrections
Need a change of address card, a corrected driver’s license, or ID card? Do it here: or by MVA Self-Serve Kiosk. A paper change of address card is free and should be stored with the license or ID card. However, if you would like a new driver’s license or identification card, there is a fee. All eligible identification card corrections must be completed online or by MVA Self-Serve Kiosk. The corrected cards will be mailed to the address of record and not issued over the counter.
