Maryland Older Driver Safety Symposium
MVA HOSTS MARYLAND OLDER DRIVER SAFETY SYMPOSIUM

"Safe Mobility for Life"

The educational event will focus on older driver safety, the latest research and best practices. The target audience is professionals in healthcare, community services and law enforcement. The symposium builds on the information presented in 2013 and promotes “Safe Mobility for Life.”

With aging, come effects on health and driving skills. Maryland faces a challenge for safety on its roadways because of the increasing number of older drivers. The issue is not about being older, its about the age-related conditions that effect driving skills. While crashes for older drivers are not a big percentage of overall rates, preparations are necessary to avoid a sudden increase in crash rates.

Recent research and best practice information will be presented by industry experts and speakers. Exhibits will showcase local resources and programs. Attendees will have the opportunity to forge new partnerships with a better understanding of other agencies, organizations and professionals who provide services for older drivers.
