GLEN BURNIE, MD (November 23, 2021) - The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) will close all branch offices and Vehicle Emission Inspection Program (VEIP) stations on Thursday, November 25, in observance of Thanksgiving. MDOT MVA branch offices will reopen Friday, November 26 by appointment only. VEIP testing will also resume November 26 and does not require an appointment. MDOT MVA self-service VEIP kiosks, online services, and 24-hour kiosks will be available through the holiday. Customers are encouraged to check the MDOT MVA eStore – during the closure and during normal operating hours – to take advantage of many services available from the comfort and safety of home, including: - Duplicate/Additional Registration Cards,
- Insurance Information and Compliance Payments,
- Vehicle Title and Registration Applications,
- Vehicle Registration Renewals,
- Identification Card Renewals,
- Title Replacements,
- Disability Products,
- Change of Address,

Marylanders are reminded that pandemic-related extensions for all MDOT MVA products – including driver’s licenses, identification cards and vehicle registrations – have officially expired. Under state law, any driver whose license has been expired over one year must retake both the knowledge and skills test to renew. In accordance with guidance issued by Governor Larry Hogan, MDOT MVA customers and staff are no longer required to wear masks at branch offices and VEIP stations statewide. Please note, face coverings are still recommended for individuals who have not been vaccinated. MDOT MVA will continue to operate by appointment only until further notice. For more information about MDOT MVA’s response to COVID-19 and additional resources, visit MVA.Maryland.gov. **Upcoming Closure Notice** The MDOT MVA is also giving customers advance notice that all branch offices beginning at close of business Thursday, December 2, through 8:30 a.m. Monday, December 6, will be closed as the agency deploys the final phase of its IT modernization project known as Customer Connect. The eStore, appointment scheduler and 24-hour self-service kiosks also will be unavailable from 9 p.m. Thursday, December 2 through noon Sunday, December 5. All Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) stations and VEIP self-service kiosks will remain open and do not require an appointment for testing. Phase two of Customer Connect will include driver services, driver enforcement, investigations, and financial services. The first phase deployed in July 2020 and included vehicle services, business licensing and motor carrier services. At full deployment, Customer Connect will consolidate existing IT systems at MVA into a single portal, giving the agency a complete view of the customer and real-time updates. ### |
