A Welcome from the MVA Administrator

Welcome to the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) website! Each year, dedicated employees complete more than 12 million transactions for Maryland residents. Every day, we strive to put YOU, our valued customers, first by delivering premier customer service, in a secure and efficient manner. The MVA is also dedicated to using a data-driven approach to reach the State of Maryland's goal or zero roadway fatalities and serious injuries by 2030.

We know your time is valuable and have worked diligently to roll out exciting customer service enhancements—both online and in our branch locations—that allow you to complete your transactions as quickly as possible. From customer correspondence to vehicle emission extensions, customers can complete more than 60 transaction with a myMVA account​. Have you heard about digital driver's licenses or state IDs? You can now get your Maryland Mobile ID for Apple or Google​ devices. Premier Customer Service

At the MVA, our goal is to significantly improve the customer experience and reshape the perception of the organization’s efficiency. This initiative is known as the Customer Service Promise. We have done this in many ways, from providing one of the most secure driver’s license and identification cards in the nation, to bringing TSA PreCheck, TWIC Card, Department of Veterans Affairs services, and Department of Health birth certificate printing to several of our branch offices. Customers can also purchase E-ZPass transponders as well as renew boat registrations. A complete list of branch locations and services can be found on our interactive map. Our goal is to provide convenient, efficient, and secure services to Marylanders.​

Safety

Not only is the MVA tasked with providing outstanding service to our customers, but as Governor Wes Moore's Highway Safety Representative, all the employees at the MVA are dedicated to reaching zero deaths​ on Maryland roadways. Through education and creative outreach as well as the work of our partners throughout the state, we are working to save lives and prevent injuries.
