WHAT'S NEW!

February 9, 2010 -  All  MVA Branch Offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Stations (VEIP) are open today with the following exception:

Prince Frederick Satellite Office remains closed due to the Calvert County Courthouse building being closed.

No on-road commercial skills tests will be conducted at any Branch today due to road conditions.  Non-commercial on-course skills tests resumes today at all Branches as conditions permit.  Please check back frequently on this website or by calling 1-800-950-1682 for the latest operational status of MVA Offices and VEIP Stations as the next winter storm begins to impact the area.   Road conditions are still dangerous, please drive with care when traveling to an MVA Office or VEIP Station.

All MVA and VEIP offices will be closed on Saturday February 13 and Monday, February 15, 2010 for Presidents Day.  List of Holidays and Office Closings.

On October 1, 2009, the minimum age requirement for getting a provisional driver's license and a regular driver's license changes. Those who hold a learner's permit will have to wait a full nine (9) months before being eligible for a provisional license. For more information...

Effective December 2009, the MVA will be piloting a new noncommercial driving skills test at the following MVA Branch Office Locations:  ESSEX, WHITE OAK and LARGO.  The new driving skills test will consist of both an off-road (course) portion to test various driving skills and a portion that will be performed on a public road.  The new test will be the only noncommercial class C skills test offered at these locations.  For additional information...
