Dear Customer,
Welcome to the MVA web site. The MVA touches the life of almost every citizen in our state. Our core mission is to deliver services to our customers in the most efficient manner possible, to ensure the safety of every driver we license and to maintain the integrity and security of our processes for every product issued by MVA. Internally, we refer to these mission goals as the three "S", which stands for Service, Safety, and Security.
We recognize that your time is valuable, so we are constantly working to apply the latest technology to replace the need for you, our customer, to visit an MVA Office. Our goal is to provide as many options as possible to our customers to conduct the majority of transactions via an alternate service delivery method such as by mail, telephone, internet or the newest generation of user friendly self-service kiosks which are rolling out around the state.
The MVA continues to evolve as changes in technology and new federal and state laws have presented new challenges. However, your Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration is continuously researching the best practices from around the nation and also taking a lead role in implementing innovative approaches to promote driver safety, security of information and our never ending quest to improve customer service.
This web site is dedicated to providing a wide range of services in allowing our customers to conduct their transactions in the comfort of their home or office via the internet. Our goal is to continue to expand the services available on the internet, so check back from time to time to see what is new and what has been added.
On June 14, 2010, the MVA began issuing the new War of 1812 license plate. Commemorating an important part of Maryland’s history, the new plate will replace the black and white Maryland standard shield issue plate (which has been used for over two decades) for all passenger cars, trucks, disability, motorcycles, motorcycle disability and multipurpose vehicles.
I hope you will find this web site convenient to use and keep in mind that our customer agents at our Customer Service Center (CSC) are available to assist with questions or transactions not currently available on the internet. You can reach the CSC by calling 1-410-768-7000.
