A Guide from the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration

Successful completion of a Maryland MVA licensed and approved driver education course is one of the requirements for obtaining a Maryland driver's license. These courses are offered through several providers that are licensed by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).

No on-line, distance learning or home study courses are licensed, certified or approved by the MVA to provide the Maryland driver education program.

Out-of-State Driver's Education certification(s) are typically not accepted by the MD MVA.  The certificates must be reviewed on a case by case basis for possible approval by the Driver Education Program.
