MVA Environmental Management / Recycling
As required under the Maryland State Executive Order, all state facilities are required to recycle at least 20% of their total solid waste stream. The MVA has established an extensive recycling program in order to meet and exceed the set goal. The MVA will be recycling mixed paper, shredded paper, cardboard, aluminum and tin cans, glass, and plastic bottles. Containers have been placed at various locations throughout the MVA's facilities in order to collect these materials.
In addition to the items above, the MVA has established programs to recycle other materials generated at our facilities such as used oil and batteries. With the help and cooperation of the MVA's employees we will be able to meet and exceed the established state goal.
There are many benefits to recycling. New products created using recycled materials use less energy and produce less pollution than those made from raw materials. Below are some facts on the resources and materials that are saved for each type of recyclable.
